The Bamix Deluxe M150 is a definitely a top-shelf brand immersion blender that is the go-to model for many of the most respected culinary masters.  Think of it as the “Vitamix” of immersion blenders.  And this makes perfect sense when you consider that Bamix is reputed as having invented the immersion blender back in 1950, when a Swiss inventor patented the device under the name “Bamix,” which referred to this device’s ability to both beat and mix foods.  In other words, Bamix has been making hand blenders for a long, long time.

The Deluxe M150, which comes in a clean black finish and uses the familiar Bamix styling, does nothing new from what we can tell but is built to the exacting Swiss standards Bamix is famous for.

For instance, the M150 uses very high-quality rust-proof, odorless and tasteless materials that are not found in the more budget-minded stick blenders.  In addition, the unit’s motor – the very heart of any blender and thing most likely to burn out – is built to perform and last much longer than most.

In addition, this model comes with meaningful accessories, like three stainless steel blades (for chopping, beating and aerating/whisking), a dry chopper/grinding bowl, and a nice counter stand that we think compliments the elegant yet sleek, utilitarian look of the unit.

Indeed, given Bamix’s pioneering work in creating these blenders and years of experience in fabrication, it’s no wonder why top chefs rely on them – including Chef Gordon Ramsay, a devout and outspoken user of the Bamix:

Deluxe M150 Specifications

The Bamix Deluxe M150 has fairly ideal proportions as far as consumer-grade stick blenders go, measuring just over 14 inches in height with a grip depth of under 5 inches.  As such, it should feel very comfortable in your hand while giving you enough reach into deep containers.

Wattage for this model is reported to be between 150 and 180 watts, with a 2-speed push-button hand control.  Although this is not remarkable for a consumer grade stick blender, it’s not so much the wattage that should be considered, but the quality of the motor and the way it transmits power to the blades that is most important.  As mentioned above, Bamix motors are top-of-the line and it’s drive-train is made to perform and last for years.  Consequently, this mixer has the power and RPMs to beat, chop and aerate virtually anything you throw at it.

Bamix Deluxe M150 Reviews & Ratings

To date, this relative new model has only received 3 reviews on; however, each of these is a perfect 5-star.  These reviewers noted the higher caliber of this unit and its quality accessories compared to other immersion blenders on the market.  For example, one reviewer  characterized this blender as a “tank,” and another succinctly described this model’s refined design as follows:

5starsAs you would expect from the inventor of the hand blender, the quality, durability, and ease of use outshine any other blender on the market.”

Price & Value

At the date of this writing, this model is selling in the neighborhood of $200.  This is clearly a relatively expensive immersion blender relative to the field, but if longevity and workmanship are important considerations, it’s well worth the extra cost.  Unfortunately, many stick blenders are made to fulfill a novelty market, and therefore are not designed for routine use.  If you plan to use an immersion blender as a integral tool in your kitchen, then this model is a comparatively good deal.

Concluding Thoughts

The Bamix Deluxe M150 Immersion Hand Blender is very high-quality unit that is best suited for those who anticipate more routine use from their blender and want something that will last and perform reliably.  It’s also a good option for those who simply want higher quality in their kitchen tools.  Conversely, if you are just curious about immersion blenders and don’t see yourself making lots of soups, smoothies, dips, etc. in the future – you may be fine with an entry-level Cuisinart.  While hand blenders are relatively affordable compared to conventional blenders, you still get what you pay for!
